Pattern – Cute Bee (2085)

Materials:

Small amounts of DK yarn in the following colours: Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red

A 4mm circular knitting needle (a circular needle is recommended because the number of stitches rapidly grows and would be difficult to manage on a pair of straight needles).

Wool needle for sewing in ends.

Instructions:

Bee Body

With black, magic loop (alternatively, ch 4 and join with slip stitch to form ring)

Round 1: ch 1, dc 6 into loop

Round 2: dc 6 (one into each dc)

Round 3: dc 2 into each dc (12 sts)

Round 4: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

Round 5: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

change to yellow yarn

Round 6: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

Round 7: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

change to black yarn

Round 8: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

Round 9: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

change to yellow yarn

Round 10: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

Round 11: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

change to black yarn

Round 12: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

Round 13: dc 12 (one into each dc on previous round)

Turn the work inside out and sew in the ends (except the yarn being worked)

Turn the work right side out and stuff the body of the bee

Round 14: decrease in every st (6 sts)

Round 15: decrease in every st

Run yarn through remaining sts, fasten off and sew in end.

Bee Wings (make two)

Ch 6, join with ss to make a ring

Ch 3, working into ring, (tr 1, ch1) twice, (dtr 1, ch 1) three times, (tr 1, ch 1) twice, tr 1.  Do not join; the wing will be semi-circular. Sew the flat side of the wings to the bee body lengthwise between the yellow stripes.  Sew in ends.

Embroider facial features in white if desired.
